Music streaming service Napster expands its availability to LG multimedia TVs…

Napster has announced a new App for LG Smart TVs that will connect users to 17 million music tracks and hundreds of pre-programmed radio channels via the LG Magic Remote Control.

Napster joins an existing catalogue of premium content on LG’s Smart TV, including films on demand from Acetrax Movies, LoveFilm and Netflix; plus from Eurosport, BBC iPlayer and YouTube.

Darren Petersen, senior content and services manager at LG UK, said the company was extremely proud of its award-winning Smart TV platform and the volume and quality of apps that it offers.

“We are delighted to add Napster to our already impressive portfolio, allowing customers to enjoy its varied catalogue of music. As the living room is the natural hub of the home, we are pleased that our service is now able to offer the music customers enjoy,” Petersen added.

Napster’s free app is available from the Premium Apps card on 2012 LG Smart TVs. After installation, listeners can activate their existing Napster account for TV use or register as a new user and try the service free for 30 days (a corresponding code has to be entered via www.napster.co.uk/lg/activate to register).

The new Napster app features new music releases, Napster charts and recommendations as well as ’artist radio’, which automatically creates playlists that match the listener’s individual taste in music.

Those wanting more control over the music experience can use ‘My Music’ to create playlists, save tracks and add favourite artists and albums. The service also provides access to Napster exclusive tracks from renowned artists and music specials.
