Autoglass brings its massive brolly to rain-drenched breakdowns

Autoglass launches the Vanbrella to help with rain-soaked windscreen replacements…

As you’re sitting at the side of the road next to a car with a smashed windscreen and it’s chucking it down, you’re probably thinking, “It never rains but it pours.” If you call, Autoglass that won’t be a problem.

The company has announced the introduction of a wet weather solution – an extendable canopy fixed to its mobile technicians’ vans, known as the Vanbrella.

“Britain experiences rainy weather approximately 145 days of the year and this can adversely affect vehicle glass repair and replacement services,” an Autoglass spokesman said. “For example, the time needed for the chip repair healing process, usually 30 minutes, or that needed to bond a replacement glass, usually one  hour, may significantly increase in wet conditions and this could compromise the quality of the result.”

Autoglass said 90 per cent of the work it carries out is mobile so the appointments of an estimated 80,000 customers each year are impacted by weather conditions.

“In such circumstances Autoglass previously offered customers the options of either taking their car into a branch or booking a later appointment,” the spokesman said. “However, the new Vanbrella provides an alternative solution meaning the company can respond quickly to its customer’s needs.”
